the field service engineer is a technical position responsible for providing on-site engineering support for crushing and grinding products throughout mexico. The role focuses on inspections, installations, performance monitoring, and technical analysis of wear parts in industrial operations.
the position acts as a technical liaison between customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams. The engineer collects and analyzes field data, validates product performance, supports reverse engineering initiatives, and contributes to the continuous improvement of product designs and service practices.
nature and scope
this role requires frequent presence at customer sites including mining and heavy industrial operations. The field service engineer supports both commercial and technical activities by providing engineering-level analysis, structured data collection, and performance validation of comminution equipment.
the position contributes directly to product development by transforming field observations into measurable technical improvements, ensuring that customer operating conditions are reflected in design standards and manufacturing practices.
principal accountabilities
* provide on-site technical support during inspections, shutdowns, installations, and failure analysis activities.
* conduct wear studies and structured data collection for crusher and mill liners.
* perform laser scanning and dimensional validation using 3d measurement technologies (faro, creaform or similar).
* collect operational and experimental data to support reverse engineering and product improvement initiatives.
* validate analytical or computational predictions against real operating conditions and test data.
* interface with engineering and manufacturing teams to recommend design or material modifications that improve performance and wear life.
* support development and documentation of design standards, installation procedures, and best practices.
* prepare technical reports, presentations, and installation documentation for internal and customer use.
* support field trials, innovation projects, and product performance verification activities.
* provide technical assistance during commercial discussions and act as the voice of the customer within the organization.
* support optimization initiatives for crushing and grinding circuits through performance analysis.
* ensure compliance with all site safety regulations and company safety standards.
position requirements
* bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, industrial engineering, or related technical field.
experience
* minimum two (2) years of experience in mineral processing, comminution equipment, heavy industry maintenance, or field services.
* experience in crushing or grinding processes is highly desirable.
* exposure to wear parts such as mill liners, crusher liners, or industrial consumables is an advantage.
knowledge and skills
* understanding of crushing and grinding equipment and circuits.
* ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications.
* analytical capability to correlate field data with equipment performance.
* familiarity with measurement tools, inspection techniques, or 3d scanning technologies.
* proficiency in ms office and familiarity with crm/erp platforms.
* strong written and verbal communication skills.
* fluent spanish and working proficiency in english.

physical and working conditions
the employee will regularly work in heavy industrial environments, including climbing stairs and platforms, supervising installations during shutdowns, and working extended shifts when required. Reasonable physical fitness is necessary to safely navigate operational facilities and comply with all safety procedures.
