your role and responsibilities
this role is for the ibm infrastructure, hardware organization development team. The hardware organization is distributed worldwide with sites in tel aviv, israel; houston, us; and hursley, uk.
as the successful candidate, you will use your broad knowledge of x86‑based hardware and component firmware design and operation, together with functional specifications and high‑level design documents, to support the ibm architect and vendor design team. You will define and run verification tests, debug hardware issues on ibm storage system products and peripherals, and participate in hardware design reviews, bring‑up, and verification activities across multiple disciplines:
* microelectronic: x86 cpus, pcie and i2c buses
* firmware: bios, bmc, cpld, tpm
* electrical: psu, bbu
* mechanical engineering
you will use test equipment to bring up and test hardware functionality, debug hardware and firmware faults, and recommend solutions following development and test methodology, including defect ticketing systems.
additionally, you will collaborate closely with the software organizations that require the hardware to deliver storage solutions to ibm customers, ensuring software interfaces to enclosure management systems function correctly.
you will also provide hardware support for storage products before and after launch, conducting failure analysis of suspected hardware or firmware issues and supporting all hardware users, including software developers, testers, hardware manufacturers, and vendors who supply components and diagnostic tools.

* 2+ years’ experience in hardware test and verification for microelectronic devices such as x86 cpus, switches, pcie and i2c buses
* experience in test methodology, agile working practices, and defect ticketing systems
* experience in firmware operation on programmable devices such as bios, bmc, cpld, tpm; electrical devices such as psu, bbu
preferred technical and professional experience
* a knowledge of ibm storage controllers for flashsystem and ess
