*'own your career' supports tenneco's people model, ensuring that we both "select the best" and "build & develop" internal talent.*it is our commitment to develop and promote great talent within the tenneco team.*at tenneco we are embarking on a new journey on global business services, willing to expand our capabilities to do the work in a more efficient and effective manner.now we are hiring a general ledger (gl) subject matter expert within the record to report team who will have responsibilities on month end closing, reconciliation, reporting, sap entries, continuous improvements initiatives.*this is a great opportunity to join to our center of excellence within the global finance shared services*duties and responsibilities*:this role is crucial to ensure the accuracy of financial records, streamline accounting operations, and support the transition of activities to our shared services.- complex journal entries: prepare, calculate, and post complex journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.- financial reporting: load financial data into onestream, ensuring accuracy and completeness.- balance sheet reconciliation: prepare reconciliations or review and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.- intracompany reconciliation, analysis and reporting of aged items- process improvement: identify opportunities for enhancing current processes and implement improvements to optimize accounting operations and enhance financial controls.- transitions subject matter expert: attend to the transition of accounting activities, ensuring all processes are accurately documented and effectively transferred.check and review the standard operating procedures.- compliance and reporting: ensure all gl accounting practices comply with relevant regulations and internal controls.- support and assistance to both internal and external audits; perform sox self-testing as per requirements- stakeholder collaboration: work closely with various departments to resolve accounting issues, provide insights, and support financial decision-making.- follow up on projects/ initiatives, identify risks and obstacles to meet deadlines, as well as proposed corrective measures.- ensure compliance with company policies & procedures.- support global finance process record to report function when necessary.part of projects as per the shared services needs*requirements*:skills / experience:- bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.national or international accounting certification is preferred- at least 5 years of experience in gl accounting or relevant finance roles, with a strong background in accounting and reporting; us gaap knowledge is a plus- compliance and ethics: in-depth understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls, with a strong commitment to maintaining ethical practices and confidentiality- technical expertise: proficiency in using erp systems (e.g., sap) and financial consolidation tools such as onestream.strong excel skills are essential- excellent english skills - written + verbal; any other language will be a plus- analytical skills: strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to details.- flexibility and speed of execution- teamwork and collaboration: proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across different departments.- communication: excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to different stakeholders- experience in interaction with the business finance teams across enterprise.*we are committed to the safety and health of our employees.we adhere to social distancing recommendations and other protocols, ensuring a safe work environment for all.
