we are seeking a senior cdn engineer engineer to work with various clients at our delivery center in mexico. Our mission at apex systems is providing insights that inspire. In this role you will help achieve that mission by giving our clients consultative guidance and technical expertise.
responsiblities:
* troubleshooting complex akamai configurations (especially waf and delivery stack).
* managing and improving current akamai environment that is convoluted and requires cleanup.
* customer communication to understand blockers and coordinate problem solving.
* moving beyond reactive fixes toward proactive, innovative architecture and solutioning.
* working closely with other team leads (one on waf, one on delivery).
* handling tickets with a curious mindset — understanding the underlying problem before implementing solutions.
* waf (web application firewall)
* b managers (likely bot manager)
* netstorage (akamai’s cloud storage solution)
* adaptive media delivery (amdi)
* cloud monitor transitioning to data streams
* edgeworkers (requires javascript knowledge for troubleshooting/custom scripting)
* image and video manager (basic asset management)
* participating in contract negotiation and future planning.
* collaborating with automation squads and possibly aws integration teams.
* explore and integrate aws networking components (alb, elb, nlb, security groups, cloudfront).
* build automation around akamai and aws infrastructure.
* prepare for a multi-cdn (content delivery network) environment incorporating aws and akamai.
* potential for upskilling in aws infrastructure networking (especially from a networking and infrastructure-as-code perspective).
* currently split between two leads: one focused on waf, one on delivery.
* the new hire would likely bridge these skill sets or take ownership of one with cross-skills.
* coordination with offshore teams and local whq leads.
* close collaboration with customers and internal teams for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience
* waf configurations and troubleshooting experience.
* delivery network knowledge (how requests traverse network, dns, tcp layers).
* understanding akamai-specific services listed above (edgeworkers, netstorage, bot manager, amdi, cloud monitor/data streams).
* strong networking fundamentals: dns, ssl/tls, tcp/ip.
* familiarity with modern cdn concepts and architecture.
* solid javascript skills for edgeworkers troubleshooting and customization.
* ability to analyze tickets beyond “just doing the work” — must be curious, ask “why,” and understand the problem before solutioning.
* customer-facing communication skills; able to explain technical issues clearly and work through blockers collaboratively.
* innovative and forward-looking mindset — comfortable designing improvements and evolving the environment.
* basic knowledge or willingness to learn aws networking components (alb, elb, nlb, security groups, cloudfront).
* experience or interest in automation and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
* ability to work in a multi-cdn environment and understand interoperability challenges.
* embrace a culture of curiosity and problem-solving, not just ticket completion.
* able to work well within a distributed team model (local and offshore).
