Overview
the aws eks platform architect is responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end architecture of a modern, enterprise-scale kubernetes platform on aws. This role leads the roadmap, standards, and modernization patterns required for large-scale api platform migration to eks while establishing forward-looking api governance and genai/agentic ai enablement strategies. The architect serves as the primary technical authority across platform, integration, security, and automation domains.
Your role and responsibilities
own end-to-end aws eks platform architecture and roadmap
lead knowledge transfer from incumbent nextera architect
define and govern platform standards, integration patterns, and best practices
provide architectural oversight for api gateway migrations to eks
drive future api governance strategy, including genai and agentic ai enablement
act as primary technical authority and stakeholder interface
required technical and professional expertise
deep aws eks & kubernetes expertise — cluster provisioning, orchestration, networking, security, scaling.
10+ years in cloud/platform architecture, including enterprise-scale modernization initiatives.
Api platform migration experience, specifically migrating large-scale api gateway solutions to kubernetes.
Strong grasp of enterprise integration patterns, microservices, service mesh, ingress architecture, and event-driven designs.
Devops proficiency, including github-based ci/cd pipelines, iac (terraform/cloudformation), and automation workflows.
Preferred technical and professional experience
api governance frameworks, including policy enforcement, observability, lineage, and lifecycle automation.
Experience with genai and agentic ai enablement, particularly api/rag/tool-calling integration.
Aws security and compliance expertise (iam, rbac, kms, secrets manager, oidc, network policies).
Service mesh exposure (istio/linkerd) for traffic shaping, security, and advanced routing.
Enterprise-grade monitoring & observability tools (prometheus, grafana, cloudwatch, elk).
