Job objective
ensure continuous improvement of operational processes through identifying, analyzing, and eliminating waste, executing lean projects, and training cross‑functional teams in order to increase productivity, quality, flow, safety and efficiency across the plant, supporting the execution of the sbos strategy.
main functions of the position
* lead continuous improvement & lean projects: leading kaizen events, waste‑reduction initiatives, and lean implementation projects that improve productivity, quality, flow, safety, cycle time and cost. Identify improvement opportunities, develop solutions and follow through with implementation and sustainment. Projects are expected to deliver hard savings of 20%.
* analyze processes and operational data with a lean perspective – analyze data (kpis, oee, lead time, waste, scrap, capacity vs demand, etc.) to understand where problems exist and to quantify the impact of improvements. Tools include value‑stream mapping, pareto charts, root‑cause analysis and time studies. Target impact 20%.
* coach & train teams on lean tools and behaviors (sbos) – with ~5 years of experience, enable others by training operations, technicians, supervisors and leaders in lean principles (5s, standard work, pdca, problem‑solving), facilitation skills and daily continuous improvement practices. Helps achieve bronze certification and beyond based on shingo standards. Target impact 20%.
* facilitate cross‑functional collaboration – lean work requires alignment across production, quality, maintenance, supply chain and engineering. Facilitate meetings, collaborate with stakeholders to scope improvement projects, and help build alignment on goals and priorities. Target impact 20%.
* support lean strategy deployment & daily management systems – participate in strategy deployment and daily management routines, help develop the deployment plan, define success criteria, set targets, and support consistent performance management through visual boards, audits and structured problem‑solving. Target impact 20%.
key performance indicators (kpis) associated with the function
* productivity improvement impact – $ annual validated savings versus target (e.g., $1.2 m delivered versus $1.0 m target).
* lead time / flow reduction – reduction in lead time, wip reduction %, oee improvement %, cycle time reduction.
* problem‑solving effectiveness – % of problems closed within 30/60 days, recurrence rate reduction, a3 audit score.
* lean capability development – # of associates trained, certification completion rate.
* sbos system deployment & sustainment – audit score of sbos elements, execution index completion versus roadmap, process confirmation adherence rate.
technical skills / level of knowledge
* problem‑solving tools (root cause, ishikawa, pdca, a3, ca) – 3 to 5 years experience.
* data analysis tools (charts, trends, pareto) and daily management systems (visual boards, audits, confirmations) – 2 years experience.
* knowledge of manufacturing and operations, value stream mapping – 3 years experience.
requirements
* lean manufacturing experience.
* bachelor’s degree in engineering – manufacturing, industrial, systems engineering or related fields.
* english – advanced proficiency required.
