What you will do?
purchase from suppliers/distributors that are well established with johnson controls policies and procedures. This position will also work with new suppliers to ensure vendor papso are completed and signed off by both parties. They work with vendors towards tooling qualification and capability study results. This position ensures the new vendor qualification aligns with johnson controls product development process.
how you will do it?
1. using corporate engineering documentation, purchase all required materials to build a sample, proto, or pilot run. Provide support for all issues related to new components required for new product introduction.
2. procure materials to meet jci goals regarding pilot run dates and production start dates while maintaining cost and quality. Purchase from distribution when components can be procured within the scheduled run date. If lead times are outside the required date, seek alternative suppliers. Collaborate with senior buyers and strategic procurement at controls corporate headquarters to resolve procurement issues. Responsible for resolving invoice and receipt discrepancies and expediting orders.
3. request quotes for startup materials and place purchase orders for required materials and mro to cover 3 months of production ramp-up for all new components. Work with senior buyers to establish blanket orders.
4. ensure all purchasing and planning parameters for new components are correctly set up in the system.
5. maintain a spreadsheet tracking material availability and adjust as required if ecs are issued during the release period.
6. participate in material impact analysis.
7. participate in risk management, including identifying failure modes, hazards, environmental aspects, assessing them, and defining and implementing controls.
8. monitor import/export engineering samples.
9. manage inventory to minimize the risk of shortages or excess.
10. request material kitting for npi builds, prototypes, or pilot runs.

* bachelor’s degree and 1-3+ years of purchasing experience.
* bilingual in english, able to communicate with international suppliers.

* ability to work under pressure.
* experience in manufacturing planning and purchasing strategies such as mrp, kanban, rop, and stock agreements.
* ability to read and understand mrp reports, stock status reports, material variance reports, customer order shortage reports, and forecasts.
