our americas region is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven mechanical design engineer for a role based in puebla, mexico .
the mechanical design engineer is responsible for the design, development, and integration of automation cells and mechanical systems, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through manufacturing. This role involves 2d-3d cad design, blueprint preparation, simulation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance, manufacturability, and compliance with aerospace standards.
responsibilities:
* develop 2d/3d cad models and detailed drawings for automation cells and mechanical systems using solidworks, catia, autocad.
* design and integrate mechanical systems, assemblies, jigs, fixtures, and automation for manufacturing and assembly processes.
* perform simulation, analysis, testing, and validation to ensure performance, quality, compliance, and kpis (oee, cycle time, cost).
* collaborate with cross‑functional teams (design, production, quality) to support system integration and product development.
* ensure design for manufacturability, support process planning, and optimize assemblies using robots, agvs, lines, karakuri.
* prepare, release, and maintain engineering documentation (drawings, boms, blueprints, process sheets) and design records.
* support npi, troubleshooting, supplier selection, standards compliance (ul), and service for existing production cells.
qualifications:
* bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
* 5–10+ years in mechanical design, product engineering, or manufacturing
* experience designing, building, and implementing automation and robotic cells
* strong mechanical design, materials, gd&t, and tolerance analysis knowledge
* proficient in cad (solidworks, catia, autocad) and simulation/validation
* knowledge of cnc machining, tooling, assembly processes, system integration, lean methods, and advanced automation systems
* occasional travel required
