role overview
this position is for a field service engineer responsible for providing technical support to to customers and distributors across mexico. The role encompasses comprehensive management of analytical chemistry instruments (gc/gcms, lc/lcms, aa, icp-oes, icpms, and similar) throughout their lifecycle, including installation, maintenance, repair, and validation procedures (iq/oq). The position requires delivering technical support in spanish, conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and providing training to customers and distributors on instrument operation and maintenance protocols.
the role involves maintaining detailed documentation of all service activities and requires travel within mexico to support the customer base. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal instrument performance and customer satisfaction.
key responsibilities
* perform installation, maintenance, repairs, and qualification (iq/pm/oq) of analytical chemistry instruments
* provide technical support in spanish to local customers and distributors
* conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments
* train customers and distributors on instrument operation and maintenance
* document service activities and maintain accurate service records
* travel within mexico to support our customer base
* must have ownership, self-initiative & pro-active attitude towards work.
* possess logical thinking skills which are essential for technical troubleshooting.
* good communication and presentation skills.
* good co-ordination skills with both internal and external parties.
* familiarity with remote technical support is desirable.
* prior experience with mass spectrometry (ms) will be a distinct advantage.
required qualifications:
* mexican nationality
* educational requirements: bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, analytical chemistry, qfb, biology or closely related technical field.
* minimum 5 years as a field service engineer or similar position in analytical chemistry instruments like lc/lcms, gc/gcms, aa, icp-oes, icpms and similar
* extensive experience with analytical instruments
* proven track record in customer service and technical support
* troubleshooting skills
* understanding of analytical instruments
* knowledge of calibration and qualification procedures
* basic understanding of laboratory workflows
* fluent in spanish (native level)
* professional working proficiency in english
* technical documentation skills in both languages
* valid driver's license
* flexibility of business trip
* willingness to be on call for emergency service
* computer skills:
* proficiency in microsoft office suite
* experience with service management software
* basic networking knowledge
* remote diagnostic capabilities
* may include frequent bending, standing, stooping, walking, talking, sitting/driving for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of instrumentation/parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 40 pounds routinely throughout the workday. Will also be required from time to time to assist in lifting heavier equipment. Incumbent must have use of hand to finger senses, in order to use and grasp hand tools to repair instrumentation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
preferred qualifications:
