Warehouse superintendent - saltillo
reporting to the materials manager, the warehouse superintendent provides strategic and hands-on leadership for all warehouse operations. This role oversees warehouse personnel, ensures timely and accurate material flow to production, and drives continuous improvement in inventory accuracy, quality, safety, and team engagement. The warehouse superintendent collaborates closely with production, quality, hr, and other plant functions to support operational performance and meet customer delivery expectations.
key responsibilities:
* warehouse operations leadership
* lead, mentor, and develop the warehouse team, ensuring high performance and engagement.
* oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, staging, and material delivery to production.
* monitor and report warehouse kpis, including productivity, accuracy, service levels, and cost performance.
* plan, schedule, and coordinate inbound and outbound material flows to meet production demand and delivery commitments.
* inventory management
* implement and enforce fifo and disciplined material-handling practices to minimize obsolete inventory.
* maintain high inventory accuracy through cycle counts, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
* partner with production to maintain appropriate wip safety stock levels and ensure timely material replenishment.
quality, compliance, and safety
* promote and maintain strict compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
* ensure all warehouse equipment and fleets are properly maintained and operational.
* coordinate with quality and incoming inspection teams to strengthen inbound quality processes and standards.
* continuous improvement and collaboration
* identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, and overall material-flow performance.
* collaborate with plant leadership to balance labor and resources across departments to meet production and shipping requirements.
* work with the hr team to build a stable, engaged workforce and support employee retention initiatives.
key requirements:
* bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
* proven experience as a warehouse supervisor or superintendent in a labor-intensive, high-volume operation.
* strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material-flow management.
* demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams.
* excellent organizational, planning, and time-management abilities; capable of delegating effectively.
* strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across departments.
* proficiency in microsoft office and warehouse/data-entry systems.
* ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, safety, and positive team culture.
* bilingual (spanish/english) preferred.
