Protection systems engineer
job description
we are seeking a skilled protection systems engineer to lead the configuration, testing, and commissioning of protection devices for high voltage (hv) substation projects.
the ideal candidate will be responsible for:
* configuring and testing protection devices, bay control units, fault recorders, and power quality devices for hv substation projects.
* creating project-specific technical documents, material lists, test protocols, manuals, and other necessary documents in accordance with mexican cfe technical specifications (lspa).
* performing factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests for protection systems.
* designing electrical schematics and circuit diagrams that meet mexican cfe technical specifications.
* administering and coordinating signal lists for protection systems.
* providing customer training on protection systems.
requirements
the successful candidate should have:
* a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field.
* at least 5 years of professional experience working with protection systems in mexico.
* in-depth knowledge of protection devices from vendors like sel, ge, and siemens (siprotec) for hv substations, as well as configuration tools like sel acselerator for protection and control devices on bay level of a substation.
* strong knowledge of regulations, standards, and specifications for protection and control systems in mexico (cfe) and different protection philosophies, including knowledge of protection test equipment like omicron.
* basic knowledge of electrical schematics and circuit diagrams developed in tools like elcad, ebase, or similar.
* excellent verbal and written communication skills in both english and spanish.
work requirements
some travel may be required up to 20% of the time, with some opportunities to work in the us. A resume must be submitted in english for consideration.
