Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer I here at Honeywell, you will contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical solutions, ensuring high-quality, reliable products, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Azcapotzalco, Mexico City location on a Hybrid work schedule.
As part of the HBT Value Engineering and Sustaining Engineering team, responsible for cost improvements and ongoing maintenance of our products and supporting factory activities.
Applies engineering principles to analysis for solution of technical issues related to mechanical design and manufacture of Honeywell products.
Looks for opportunities to reduce BOM and labor cost of existing products.
Applies state of the art knowledge design methods and practices to assure high quality, low cost solutions.
Responsibilities
• Deliver hardware designs on time to project schedules that meet customer requirements
• Collaborate with other engineering functions, product management, suppliers, plant personnel and other stakeholders to develop and implement low cost design solutions, methods, and product improvements.
• Perform design analysis
• Implement engineering changes
• Manage and approve component specifications and engineering drawings and release parts and subsystems for production
• Define system requirements
• Solve engineering related problems
• Plan and implements product development and test programs
• Communicate information to and from internal and external customers
• Coordinate and consult with departments outside engineering
• Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products
• Travel as required (EMEA-wide) – approx. 15% of time
Qualifications
MUST HAVE
• Master’s/Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of experience in the Component Engineering, Hardware design or Test Engineering
• DFSS Greenbelt certification
• Good knowledge of Mechanical design and components, their parameters and characteristics, material specs, GD&T;, experience with conditional qualification testing
• CAD tools, UL/CSA/CE standards, statistical methods and tools, MS Office
• Very good written and spoken English, work in the international team, ability of multitasking
