Fabrication - sr. Staff engineer

basic function
this self-motivated associate will develop, improve, and maintain project-engineering programs with direction and prioritization from reynosa engineering manager. This staff engineer will focus primarily on the fabricated stainless steel sink products, following industry-standard engineering practices, the "kohler operating system" (factory master plan, factory playbook, safety-noms, and ergonomic principles), and company policies to ensure minimal interruption and achievement of production and cost objectives.
specific responsibilities
1. create cost standards for fabricated products (laser cut/press brake bend/p4/weld) and maintain contact with fmg accounting group. Standards include material usage, blank sizes, revert material estimates, and indirect material consumables.
2. ensure all fabrication-related production processes yield products meeting kpis, operation certifications, and acceptance criteria as defined in engineered product requirements. Develop pfmea and assist in developing a control plan with quality engineering.
3. develop and implement process improvements, working methods, equipment, fixtures, tools, welding, polishing, and operation sequences to enhance efficiency.
4. lead fabrication operation labor standards, monthly labor requirements, machine utilization, and capacity analysis.
5. support maintenance in troubleshooting manufacturing processes, tools, dies, fixtures, laser cutting, and welding equipment.
6. manage capital projects in stainless steel fabrication using project management methodologies, focusing on timing and budget.
7. oversee capital purchase processes and analysis for equipment justification and procurement.
8. maintain working knowledge of mig, tig, fiber laser, plasma welding methods.
9. proficient in autocad, creo (including sheet metal), solidworks or rhino3dm, amada laser programming, salvagnini p4 programming, cincinnati press brake programming.
10. willingness to travel within the usa, mexico, and possibly asia and europe.
skills/requirements
education & experience:
bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 6 years of manufacturing experience related to fabrication methods and equipment. Effective communication skills, analytical problem-solving ability, and proficiency in microsoft windows applications are required. Bilingual skills (english/spanish) are mandatory. Candidate must be able to qualify for a us visa for business travel.
