position overview
we are seeking a seasoned financial controller to lead and strengthen the company’s financial operations. This strategic role involves owning the full accounting function, ensuring regulatory compliance, and producing accurate, insightful financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring robust experience in consumer credit or financial services, thrive in fast-paced environments, and have a proven ability to drive operational excellence across finance, tax, and internal controls.
key responsibilities
1. lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
2. ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (nif, ifrs) and regulatory requirements.
3. oversee internal and external audits.
4. establish and refine financial policies, procedures, and controls.
strategic financial management
1. develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
2. conduct variance analyses and present strategic insights to leadership.
3. provide decision-support analysis to key stakeholders.
treasury & liquidity oversight
1. manage cash flow planning and daily liquidity operations.
2. coordinate bank relationships and optimize working capital.
3. design and implement effective internal control systems.
4. mitigate financial and operational risks in compliance with regulatory frameworks.
5. supervise credit portfolio accounting and integration of new financial products.
taxation & compliance
1. ensure accurate and timely tax reporting across all obligations.
2. lead payroll validation and tax-related reconciliations.
3. support fiscal planning strategies for credit-related operations.
4. drive the automation of reporting and financial processes.
5. lead or support erp and accounting software implementation.
6. enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency through system integration.
administrative oversight
1. oversee general administrative matters including fixed assets, vendor payments, and office resources.
candidate profile
experience & background
1. degree in accounting (with professional license).
2. 7+ years in a similar role, preferably within credit, fintech, sofoms, or financial services.
3. proven experience managing audits, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
4. strong track record establishing internal financial processes and structures from scratch.
technical skills
1. advanced excel skills.
2. solid knowledge of accounting systems and erp tools.
3. familiarity with financial compliance in credit environments.
4. english proficiency (intermediate to advanced).
5. high attention to detail and accuracy
6. strong sense of ownership and accountability
7. ability to work with agility in dynamic environments
8. strategic thinking and strong planning skills
9. ability to coordinate and influence across departments
10. confidentiality and integrity in managing sensitive financial information
