your role and responsibilities
this role is for the ibm infrastructure, hardware organization development team. The hardware organization is distributed worldwide with sites in guadalajara mexico, tel aviv israel, houston us, and hursley uk.
the successful candidate will use their broad knowledge of hardware and firmware design and operation, together with functional specifications and high‑level design documents, to support the ibm architect and vendor design team, to define and run verification tests, and to debug hardware issues on ibm storage system products and peripherals. In addition, the role includes reproducing failures seen by clients and testing the mitigations.
this role involves test and verification activities in multiple disciplines, including:
* cpus
* memories
* pcie and i2c busses
* firmware (bios, bmc, cpld, tpm)
* electrical (psu, bbu)
* mechanical engineering
the team also collaborates closely with the software organizations that require this hardware to deliver their storage solutions to ibm customers and ensure the software interfaces to enclosure management systems function correctly.
the team is also responsible for the hardware support for storage products before and after launch. This involves the failure analysis of suspected hardware or firmware issues and supports all hardware users, including software developers and testers in ibm, hardware manufacturers who build systems for ibm, and vendors who supply components and diagnostic tools.

* experience with hardware devices such as: x86 cpus, memory, switches, pcie and i2c busses
* understanding of programmable devices such as: bios, bmc, cpld, tpm, electrical (psu, bbu)
* working knowledge of linux environments
preferred technical and professional experience
* fundamental knowledge of storage controllers in hpc environments
* experience with cloud platforms
