we are partnering with a european industrial organization to recruit a highly experienced general manager to lead country operations in mexico.
the ideal candidate is an operationally focused leader with deep experience in high-volume, low-margin manufacturing environments, preferably with exposure to plastics processing, injection molding, or similarly fast-paced production settings. This role requires someone who understands the demands of a 24/7 operation, thrives in low-cycle-time environments, and can strengthen performance, culture, and output across the organization.
about the role
the general manager will oversee the full p&l and operational performance of a large manufacturing site, leading a multi-disciplinary team across production, commercial operations, finance, hr, quality, and it. The mandate is to ensure stability, efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement while driving the next phase of operational excellence.
this leader will be responsible for evolving the plant's organizational structure, optimizing processes, developing talent, and elevating the site's operational standards in alignment with global expectations.
key responsibilities
* lead the full business unit with end-to-end p&l accountability
* oversee daily operations to ensure products are manufactured on time, in full, and to required specifications
* manage a 24/7 production cycle with low cycle times and high-output requirements
* improve oee, reduce scrap, and strengthen operational kpis
* oversee production planning, scheduling, maintenance, warehousing, and raw material flow
* build and develop high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration
* drive strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and new product introductions
* ensure compliance with safety, quality, and governance standards
* lead budget planning, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives
ideal profile
* 5+ years of experience as a general manager or operations leader within a mid-size industrial or manufacturing organization
* educational background in engineering or technical field; plus relevant professional training
* strong background in high-volume, low-margin manufacturing
* hands-on operational expertise with 24/7 production environments
* experience with plastics, injection molding, compression molding, or similar processes preferred
* proven success improving operations performance (oee, quality, cost, output)
* experience leading teams of 50+ in a manufacturing setting
* strong strategic thinking paired with an entrepreneurial, solution-oriented mindset
* business professional level english and spanish communication skills required
* comfort working in a fast-scaling, performance-driven manufacturing environment
