ai‑native startup building intelligent sales & marketing agents (ai sdrs) for us‑based customers (mainly california). The engineering team works directly with the founders, building core product features, implementing custom configurations during live client calls, and shaping the next generation of ai‑driven automation.
Tech stack includes python, django, aws, react, and internal configuration tools that are progressively being productized. This is a fast‑paced, vc‑backed environment (with top‑tier investors), ideal for builders who thrive in early‑stage product development.
Responsibilities
join 2–3 customer calls per day (30 minutes each) alongside a founder—this role is supporting, not leading, the client interaction.
Capture technical requirements in real time and convert them into 5+ actionable tasks per customer engagement.
Implement small and large code changes immediately after the calls (python, django, configs, debugging).
Design, build, and maintain backend services using python + django within an aws environment.
Contribute to major new product features for ai agents and configuration tools.
Ensure high code quality through testing, version control, and modern engineering practices.
Participate in daily/regular syncs with the india engineering team (morning or late‑evening pt) to share context and unblock work.
Work closely with founders on product decisions and execution.
Must‑haves
2–5 years of experience as a software engineer.
Minimum 1 year of hands‑on production experience with python + django (not academic).
Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design basics.
Experience building and maintaining backend systems or apis.
Experience with aws or similar cloud platforms.
Fluent english, able to participate confidently in technical discussions on customer calls.
Consistent availability during california‑friendly hours.
High ownership, fast learner, comfortable working directly with founders.
Preferred (nice‑to‑have)
bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or related.
Experience with react or understanding of modern frontend frameworks.
Previous experience in vc‑funded or us‑market startups.
Hackathon or coding competition achievements (icpc or similar).
Not a fit if
main background is in large enterprises, government, banks, oil & gas, or slow‑moving corporate environments.
Experience is primarily in contracting/agency models instead of product‑focused startups.
