ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
- Directly manage procurement specialists in Greensboro NC
- Procure TL services to offer best in class solutions for prospective and existing customers
- Manage, develop, coordinate, and optimize carrier relationships. Classify carriers by role (strategic, niche, etc.) and invest time as appropriate.
- Develop strategic Top to Top relationships with key carriers. Lead efforts to develop strong relationships at all levels - executive levels at carrier and Transplace, execution focused meetings between carrier Sales / Ops and Transplace account teams.
- Identify new carriers to add to the core carrier base or to migrate from non-strategic to strategic roles.
- Monitor the purchased transportation spend of assigned carriers.
- Understand customer's operational requirements and ability to align that with the Transplace carrier network
- Work directly with Compliance to help identify and fix carrier issues related to tender acceptance and carrier service percentages
- Lead the carrier award and validation process for Transplace business and consult on same for all other SECOE business
- Understand benchmarking procedures for each customer and make daily carrier decisions that directly affects customer savings and Transplace revenue
- Lead or assist in problem resolution between accounts and carriers.
- Identify available capacity for difficult lanes and recommend carriers
- Assist in the efforts to confirm committed capacity, negotiate carrier contracts and rates
- Liaison with account team and accounting department to resolve billing discrepancies
- Perform "Ad-Hoc” Reporting as required to support account, consulting or other initiatives
- Participation in the Transplace Response to RFI and RFP for potential new 3PL customers by Create regional and national distribution lists per mode for carrier management
- Assist in helping to create a Transplace carrier recruiting initiative
- Help negotiate carrier rates for new and existing business
- Understand and help handle implementation calls between carrier and Transplace
- Handle follow up calls that are scheduled on awarded business with the carriers
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to appropriate management
- Handle carrier quarterly business reviews in assigned region

EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years or more analyzing and managing TL transportation, either at a shipper, carrier or 3PL. Knowledge of TL industry, major carriers, cost drivers, best practices.
- TRAVEL
This job will require travel but does not require routine or extensive travel. Approximately 10-20%
EDUCATION
- Associate’s Degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
- Preferred: Bachelors in business, logistics, or another related field
