Reporting to the Senior Systems and Network Engineer, the Systems Administrator I supports the operation and upkeep of the organization’s IT infrastructure at our Cancun, Mexico branch. This is a 100 percent on site role based in Cancun. Standard working hours align to Arizona time, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 18:00, with occasional adjusted hours for office moves, equipment deployments, or urgent on-site tasks. Remote or hybrid working is not available. The position ensures stable, secure, and efficient systems for colleagues on site in Cancun while collaborating with general IT teams that support users in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines. The role focuses on day-to-day support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of desktops, servers, networks, and core business applications used at the Mexico location.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, configure, and support the Cancun site infrastructure including servers, network equipment, operating systems, and business applications.
- Act as the first point of contact for helpdesk issues by phone, email, and chat during scheduled hours for the Cancun location.
- Triage, document, and resolve incidents and requests within service levels. Escalate to second line or suppliers when needed.
- Provide desk side and remote support for Windows and macOS computers, printers, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Support Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and Office apps.
- Administer user accounts and permissions in Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 including password resets and MFA support.
- Build and deploy laptops and desktops including imaging, Intune enrolment, and application installs.
- Deliver new starter and leaver tasks including accounts, equipment, access cards, and time clock enrolment.
- Monitor Windows and Linux servers and network health. Log issues and escalate when thresholds are breached.
- Perform system and software updates, patches, backups, and recovery activities in line with policy and change procedures.
· Document support activity, standard procedures, knowledge base articles, and asset inventories to agreed standards.
· Track and manage IT assets and software licenses with accurate inventory records.
· Lead or assist office technology tasks such as PC setup, cable management, desk moves, and small site builds.
· Log and escalate security incidents and follow company security and incident reporting processes.
· Support local disaster recovery tasks and scheduled data integrity checks.
· Work with Operations, Application Delivery, and Help Desk to improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
· Participate in an on-call rotation for weekend support calls and tickets.
· Handle personal data in line with applicable Mexican privacy and data protection laws.
Qualifications Required:
· Basic understanding of computer networks, common architecture, and core terminology.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Windows clients and server as well as MacOS clients
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
· Legal authorization to work in Mexico and willingness to undergo background screening in line with company policy.
Preferred:
· Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
· Up to 2 years of experience in IT support or system administration.
· Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or vendor specific certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or Fortinet NSE.
· Experience with monitoring tools, endpoint management, and basic network configuration on switches, wireless, and firewalls.
· Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure services.
Physical Demands
· Ability to be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-and dust.
· Adequate ability to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
· Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures in line with applicable Mexican health and safety regulations.
· Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
· Effective communication in a business environment.
· Safely lift, carry, push, pull, or move IT equipment up to 23 kg using correct manual handling techniques and, where appropriate, handling aids or assistance.
· Ability to independently transport, install, and maintain various equipment, such as computers, printers, and monitors. This includes the capability to maneuver in positions like lying down, crawling, stooping, and bending to fully set up and service equipment at different workstations.
