role overview
we're looking for a
hands-on vp of finance
to own the full finance and accounting function at ghm — from daily accounting and cash management to strategic forecasting, investor reporting, and financial compliance. You will build the foundation for a scalable, multi-entity finance organization that supports profitable growth, investment readiness, and operational excellence.
this is a rare opportunity for a finance leader who thrives in both strategy and execution. You'll partner closely with the ceo and coo to translate financial insights into business action, while owning everything from cash forecasting to system design.
why this role matters
ghm is scaling rapidly — adding customers, vendors, subscription revenue, and project complexity.
we need financial leadership that is as proactive and organized as the services we deliver to clients.
this role ensures we manage our burn, understand our margins, and build investor-ready financial systems that will support national expansion, acquisitions, or future fundraising.
you'll serve as a
strategic thought partner to the ceo and coo
, helping guide ghm's path to profitability and scale.
core responsibilities
financial leadership
* own the full finance & accounting function for ghm, from reconciliation to board-level reporting
* build scalable reporting frameworks, controls, and models to support executive decisions and operational performance
* serve as ghm's financial voice during executive strategy sessions and key planning conversations
* support due diligence for acquisitions or investment rounds, including modeling, data room prep, and post-close planning
cash & burn management
* track and manage cash flow, collections, and company runway weekly
* build and maintain rolling 13-week cash forecasts
* deliver a "cash health" dashboard with burn multiple, margin by business line, and weeks of runway
p&l ownership & margin clarity
* own the company p&l and lead monthly reviews with the leadership team
* deliver detailed
p&ls by vendor, trade type, region, and subscription vs. project
* analyze margins, pricing, fixed costs, and vendor efficiency — and act on the findings
reporting & forecasting
* deliver weekly financial snapshots (ar, ap, cash, margin trends, quote-to-invoice)
* prepare monthly executive financial packages and investor-style dashboards
* ensure reporting accuracy across departments and financial systems
operational finance execution
* manage
weekly ar/ap cycles
, vendor payments, and invoicing
- ensure compliance with vendor contracts, tax documentation, and payment accuracy
- maintain clean, reconciled books across accounts — monthly close completed by the 10th business day
- oversee quote-to-invoice accuracy, ensuring proper margin tracking and issue resolution
system design & continuous improvement
* design and scale ghm's financial infrastructure — including reporting frameworks, internal controls, entity structure, and tool integrations
* maintain and refine zoho books, zoho expense, and financial dashboards
* identify and implement tools to support automation, reporting, or multi-entity operations
* ensure compliance with
u.s. and mexico accounting and tax regulations
, coordinating with external partners as needed
team building & delegation
* build and lead a small finance team as ghm grows — including hiring a
bookkeeper or ar/ap support
* create clear workflows, delegation structures, and performance standards to maintain efficiency and accuracy
* own documentation, sops, and internal playbooks for financial processes
what success looks like
* executive team always knows: cash position, burn rate, and margin by line of business
* vendor and trade-level p&ls drive pricing and procurement decisions
* financial systems are clean, auditable, and scalable
* reporting is accurate, automated, and aligned with strategic goals
* ghm is prepared for investor conversations, audits, or due diligence
qualifications
required
* 5+ years in finance and accounting (ideally in a service or operations-intensive business)
* strong command of cash flow forecasting, p&l management, and cost analysis
* fluent in both spanish and english
* advanced spreadsheet/google sheets skills (pivot tables, formulas, variance models)
* experience managing a full accounting function (ar/ap, month-end close, reporting)
* proficient in zoho books or similar (quickbooks, xero, netsuite)
* based in mexico city with reliable internet and u.s. Central time availability
nice to have
* experience working in a scaling startup or multi-entity operation
* exposure to u.s. and mexican tax and accounting systems
* supported m&a or fundraising due diligence before
* has built or led a finance team
* familiarity with franchising or multi-location business models
kpis you'll influence
* weeks of cash runway
* margin by project, trade type, vendor
* ar/ap aging under 30 days
* timeliness and accuracy of monthly close
* burn multiple and cost structure alignment
* due diligence readiness
compensation & engagement
* $4,500 usd/month
, paid monthly as a contractor
- full-time role with exclusive focus during business hours
- monday–friday, u.s. Central time (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)
