description
this job leads and supervises the safety & quality work of union workers on service track, road, and yard locomotive attentions, ensuring the daily and scheduled inspections are completed in accordance with company work scopes, fra/sct/aar regulations, oem specifications, and coordination with transportation mlu & cco for train consist preparation as per tsp.
accountabilities
* supervises unionized craftsmen (universal qualified operators and qualified operators) in locomotive inspections, minor repairs, and on-service attention, ensuring safety and operational standards.
* manages the daily inspection center/service track personnel, equipment, tools, and installations.
* prepares locomotive consist sets according to the tsp, in coordination with noc and mlu departments.
* checks diesel fuel supply, requisitions dispatch tickets, and manages inventory of diesel, lubricants, sand, and water.
* coordinates with local transportation staff and noc, mlu, mac desks for locomotive failure attention and scheduled inspections.
* attends sct verification visits locally.
* demonstrates operational excellence, customer focus, and contingency planning.
* ensures compliance with rules, regulations, and policies through accountability conversations and coaching.
* promotes a culture of safety, inclusion, civility, and teamwork, encouraging open communication and recognition.
* defines team roles, responsibilities, and expectations; provides performance feedback; develops high-performing teams.

required qualifications
* high school diploma or equivalent
* minimum two (2) years of relevant operations experience or equivalent education and experience.
preferred qualifications
* medium command of english
* knowledge of mechanics, electricity, and pneumatics
* people management skills
* basic railroad knowledge
* basic computer skills
working conditions
* ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
* must support 24/7 railroad operations with a sense of urgency, responsibility, and stress management.
